Um clássico sem dúvidas. A música foi escrita para estrelar o terceiro álbum de estúdio, o X&Y. Em 23 de maio de 2005 a gravadora Parlophone lançou Speed Of Sound como primeiro single do álbum.
O som é envolvente e alguns diriam que ele é bem sexy, mistura um estilo bacana e muito agradável. Pra quem gosta de piano se identifica rapidamente com o gênero britânico.
Speed Of Sound foi reconhecida como canção do ano pela American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher (ASCAP). O som é baseado em um riff de piano, desenvolvendo um sintetizador com refrão mais pesado.
Vale lembrar que a música do Coldplay foi indicada duas vezes no Grammy Awards, também ganhou um Brit Award em 2006.
